The Vancouver Giants acquired defenceman Derek Thurston from the Saskatoon Blades for a conditional draft pick in the 2027 WHL Draft. Thurston, a Delta native, has recorded 26 points in 131 career WHL games and is expected to bolster the Giants' blueline.

Vancouver Giants sign 2026 fourth-overall pick Jugnauth to WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement
The Vancouver Giants have signed 2011-born forward Brayden Jugnauth, the fourth overall pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft, to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Jugnauth, a 15-year-old from Kelowna, BC, had a standout season in the BCEHL U18 AAA division, leading with 32 goals and 58 points in 34 games. He also helped the Okanagan Rockets win back-to-back U18 championships and tied for second among forwards in scoring at the TELUS Cup National Championship. He is guaranteed a WHL scholarship for each year he plays in the WHL.
NHL Prospect Watch: New York Islanders
The New York Islanders WHL prospect pool features four players, including Vancouver Giants goaltender Burke Hood and Penticton Vees forward Jacob Kvasnicka, a WHL Rookie of the Year finalist. Daylan Kuefler, who signed a contract extension with the AHL's Bridgeport Islanders, and Kelowna Rockets forward Tomas Poletin round out the group.
